Out of the Mouths of Babes – Books Sweet Books

November 18th, 2008 by

Kids do indeed say the darnest things, don’t they?! “Out of the Mouths of Babes” will be a regular column on our blog. This is a place where Chinaberry customers and employees alike can share the amusing things that the kids in their lives have said.

The “kid quotes” can be funny, profound, strange, silly, insightful, loving, angry (I heard the not-so-original “I’m running away & never coming back” this last weekend), thoughtful, sad, touching, etc.

Please include the child’s first name and age at the time of the quote. Feel free to add a sentence or two to explain what was happening when the child said “it.” Photos of the child are also welcome.

Our first quote was sent to me by Sheila at Chinaberry:

“Books to me are like bags of chocolate. You put them in front of me and I read them all.”
– One of Sheila’s sons (he prefers to remain “anonymous”), at age 7 1/2

This was when he was realizing how much he loved reading — little did he know his mom would one day work at Chinaberry!

  1. Ali at Chinaberry Says:

Chris – That’s a funny one! If that really was his name, I don’t think kids would like him very much. ;-)

When we were on our way to school about a month ago, my six-year-old daughter Nova said very matter-of-fact “I want to become President so I can make everything FAIR.” Can’t argue with that — Vote Nova in 2040!

  2. Chris Says:

When my friend’s 5-yr-old daughter, Jocelyn, recently came home from school, she said to her mommy “I know who the next president is going to be. It’s Broccoli Bama!”
