Out of the Mouths of Babes - Meow 101

Friday, July 17th, 2009

Gus Gus and Willow Berman ("Husband and Wife"). Kitten is hiding.

At Dinner one of my girls was speaking in a strange made-up language. When I asked her what she was doing, she said:

“I’m speaking “cat english” so our cats can understand me better.”  - Sakura, age 7

You and your little one will have a blast when you join this group of adorable toddlers as they explore the farmyard. Come along on their delightful and joyful journey as they try to discover just which animal says ”boo.” ”Does a pig say boo? Oh, no! A pig says oink! And a pig goes grunt as it sqwuffles in the mud. Oink, oink! Grunt, grunt!” Could it be the cow? The dog? How about the horse or the mouse?

You’ll be smiling right along with the children and the animals as you moo, whoo, buzz, and cheep your way to the surprise at the end when the mystery is revealed and you find out that it is you who says ”boo”!

This kid quote was sent to me from Brenda at Chinaberry:

After her gymnastics class my niece, with her hand on her hip, turned to my sister and said

“Mommy, my hippo hurts.”

Out of the Mouths of Babes - Just Like Dear OLD Dad

Saturday, January 10th, 2009

This quote was sent to me by Patti, Customer Service Manager at Chinaberry:

My husband took our son Ryan (who was about 3 1/2 years old at the time) to the barbershop for a haircut.  The barber put him on his booster seat in the barber’s chair and then asked Ryan how he’d like his hair cut.  Ryan replied by saying, “I want my hair cut just like my dad’s, except–pointing to his temples–without these bald spots there.”

Out of the Mouths of Babes - Big Feelings

This kid quote was sent to me from Tammy B. at Chinaberry:

When my oldest daughter Bridgette was about five, we did not get along very well–she was so independent. One day when she was very angry at me, she said:

“I am not going to love you for the rest of my life… and tomorrow too!”
- Tammy’s daughter Bridgette, at age 5

This is a place where Chinaberry customers and employees alike can share the amusing things that the kids in their lives have said. Please share your kid quotes with us. See our first ‘Out of the Mouths of Babes’ column for more info on submitting your kid quotes.

Out of the Mouths of Babes - Books Sweet Books

Tuesday, November 18th, 2008

Kids do indeed say the darnest things, don’t they?! “Out of the Mouths of Babes” will be a regular column on our blog. This is a place where Chinaberry customers and employees alike can share the amusing things that the kids in their lives have said.

The “kid quotes” can be funny, profound, strange, silly, insightful, loving, angry (I heard the not-so-original “I’m running away & never coming back” this last weekend), thoughtful, sad, touching, etc.

Please include the child’s first name and age at the time of the quote. Feel free to add a sentence or two to explain what was happening when the child said “it.” Photos of the child are also welcome.

Our first quote was sent to me by Sheila at Chinaberry:

“Books to me are like bags of chocolate. You put them in front of me and I read them all.”
– One of Sheila’s sons (he prefers to remain “anonymous”), at age 7 1/2

This was when he was realizing how much he loved reading — little did he know his mom would one day work at Chinaberry!
